Apple failed to post my last review perhaps because this app left me with many negative this to say about the company that sells Parallels, and professional website reviews that give a glowing review to this app. I thought this was a place to state opinion, but apparently expanding too much on a negative opinion becomes "inappropriate" at some point with no official Apple guidelines to follow that I am aware of. I have left out those expanded opinion details and now relate just the facts and my personal view. You can decide for yourself. This is the first time I have had a review not get posted. Apple please post this somewhat modified review, and also post explicitly what guidelines are used to deem a review "inappropriate".
Im expert level at networking. Installed the host app on both my Mac Mini and MacBook Retina, both under OS X 10.8.4. The mini also has the server app.
Both show as "available" from the client. Mac Mini never connects, although the MacBook does. No network settings to try to alter. Sent an email to their tech support days ago. Have not heard back.
Does not live up to its claim of being "like using the apps natively". Only trick here is they make every app you launch run maximized (not true OS X full screen as they claim). You can simply click on Window > zoom in the OS X tittle bar with any other remote app and do the same thing. Decent mouse gestures yes, but no better than Splashtop Remote which has much better quality video and is significantly cheaper.
Decided to uninstall. No uninstall utility to do a clean uninstall off the Mac. Come on Parallels thats not acceptable for an app at this price point. Thought I would go back to the older Parallels remote app for iOS which has been a feature of Parallels 7 and 8. No longer in the iOS App Store. If you have to reinstall Parallels mobile on iOS, you are now SOL. Parallels has taken away a feature from existing loyal version 7 and 8 customers forcing them to now pay for the functionality that was advertised as included with versions 7 and 8. This whole experience has very negatively impacted my formerly positive view of Parallels. Not a company that I want to do business with any more.
